Streets in Shinjuku

Today, My Tokyo Dream is going to Shinjuku!

I hardly go out to downtown Tokyo these days. It's expensive to travel there (at least 380yen one way!) and I'm also too lazy to drag my arse out.

Shibuya, Harajuku and Ikebukuro used to be my favourite places to hang out when I was younger in my previous stays in Japan, but now I prefer quaint and quirky towns like Kichijouji and Shimokitazawa.

Anyway, here are some snapshots that I took while on a rare trip to Shinjuku to pick to some Harry Potter chopsticks (which deserves another post of their own) for my lovely friend K.

Illegally parked bikes.

Crossing near Odakyu department store.

East exit of Shinjuku station.

Lumine.

Homeless in Shinjuku.

Living in one of the greatest cities in the world but without shelter.

Guess what these folks are up to.
Smoking! All of them are smoking in the smoking area. You can actually see some of them lighting up their cigarettes. I feel like I could get a lung cancer just by walking past them.

Autumn Room Deco

Took my third and final Japanese language placement test today. Some questions were really quite difficult. There is just so much more to learn about the Japanese language. I wonder which level of classes I will be placed. Oh I do hope that I get to meet new fun classmates!

Anyways...

It's AUTUMN!

I love to spruce up my apartment to give it some seasonal flavours. It's nice to be living in a country where I can fully experience the four seasons. In Singapore, we only have sun or rain.  Yes for the whole year.

Bought some cheap deco from Daiso.

Picked up some dried pine fruits from my school.

Things to make my room (and toilet) smell nice.
Lollipop and fruits candy scents. Very artificially sweet, but sometimes you just need that strong sweet smell to get rid of other unwanted odours in your room. Not suggesting that my room has any...(looks around nervously)

Random display on my wall.

Ah, my favourite corner.

Little space at the entrance of my apartment.
Can't get everyone in the shot but this is the best take I can get in a small space.

Place for my keys.

Wall facing the door decorated with postcards from my friend, J.

J (also an ex-colleague) once said that it is important to have a 'pretty corner' on the work desk (and everywhere else). It makes people feel wonderful to have something pretty to look at. It's so true!

My Makku - McRib!

Yesterday was Sports Day and also a public holiday. I'm glad that I managed to go jogging and did some studying for a test tomorrow. More studying today!

It has been almost a year since my last My Makku post.

And the star of today's post is...

The McRIB

McRibbed, for her pleasure.  Hee hee.

So much love in one little package.

I couldn't resist it and order the Double McRib

I love the juicy patties drenched in yummy bbq sauce. The rectangular shape makes it more convenient to stuff in your mouth and take big greedy bites.

Reasons why the McRib is so tasty:
1. Juicy pork patties to satisfy that autumn appetite
2. Savoury BBQ sauce that compliments the pork patties
3. Fresh lettuce with sweet lemon sauce

Verdict:  (out of 5 s)
