節電で行こう

Word of the day: 節電 (Setsuden) - To save electricity

People in Japan are doing their best to conserve electricity and power supplies are switched off as much as possible. Trains are not running as frequently as before, but there does not pose much of a problem as abundant trains are still bringing people to their destinations.

Lights in trains are switched off in daytime.

節電で行こう! Let's conserve electricity!

お花見行きましょう - Part I (Super Image Heavy)

The one thing that I was very very very excited about coming back to Japan is, the mad blooming sakura!

Ok the sakuras were not blooming as madly as they were a week ago, but at least I was back in time to catch a final glimpse of them before they start to fall. I went sakura-viewing 3 days in a row, starting from the first day I reached Tokyo.

So here's a spam of photos for you to enjoy! The photos were taken at 井の頭公園 (Inokashira Park) and 小金井公園 (Koganei Park) last Wednesday and Thursday.

Sakura petals on the surface of the lake.

A petal fell into my cup!

Sakura-flavoured soft-cream.

I'm a sucker for anything sakura-flavoured.

What the...?!

They just appeared out of nowhere.

Time to go home.

I was at Inokashira Park on Sunday and there were no sakura left. Sobs.

Back in Tokyo

Hey everyone!  I'm finally back in Tokyo!  Hooray!

Actually I came back about a week ago. Spring semester has started and everything is fine so far.

Oh, except...

the EARTHQUAKES that happen (almost) everyday!

Almost everyday (or night) there are small tremors which can get quite irritating, especially when you happen to be soundly asleep or taking a dump in the loo. The only thing on my mind was, 'Bugger off stupid earthquake. Don't disturb my sleep/shit.' But it can be a little terrifying when my whole room starts to shake and I can hear the house creaking away happily to the quake.

Hopefully these tremors will stop soon.

Other than that, life in Tokyo has pretty much got back to normal. People are milling about, doing their own business as usual. Plans have also been announced to give aid to the people in affected areas to get their lives back on track. My school has organised a collection of stationary and message cards from students to be sent to the children whom have lost their homes. I sent in a big bag of pencils and erasers, bought from Daiso (cheap and good!).

 頑張れ、ニッポン!ファイト!

No mood to blog...

I was shocked into silence when I saw the terrifying footage and photos of the quake. My friends in Tokyo are all safe, but in shock. I don't know what else I can do except to pray for them. God, please help Japan.

Chocolate Beer and such

I bought some yummy beverages in Tokyo!

SAPPORO x ROYCE = CHOCOLATE BEER!
2 flavours - Sweet and Bitter.

I tried the sweet one. Yummy! I never though that chocolates will go well with beer. It was surprisingly nice!

SPARKLING CHOCOLATE DRINK

Imagine soda plus chocolates! That is how this drink tastes like. Sounds a bit weird but the taste was quite refreshing. And the design of the bottle is SO pretty! Alice-in-Wonderland theme! I was attracted by the design, which is why I bought it. My friend Thanh Thao reviewed it in her post here!

Maxim Mont Blanc Latte and Chai Latte.
Super nice!

I like to stock my kitchen with nice beverages, so my friends have more choices when they come to my place for uchi cafe.  Wee!

Back in Singapore

Hi from Singapura!

It's good to be back home! やっぱ家が一番! After being away from home for a while, I have learned to appreciate the simple little things at home, such as my neighbourhood (which is awesome!) and yummy hawker food (cheap!).

Lotsa greenery in my hood! BBQ pits and jogging tracks come with.

Economic fried noodles with fried chicken wing and otah (spicy fish cake) and lotsa chilli.

Fried carrot cake!

Sneak peek of my Singapore home.
Wall display of our Sylvanian collection and the cat carpet I lugged back all the way from Tokyo!

Here is one of our 6 cats - Butter! She loves the new carpet!

This may sound cliche but there is no place like home! It's so nice to be surrounded by people, animals and things you love!
